Posted by Gerry “Chicken-ass” (in a non-malicious way) Alanguilan in his blog: Filipino comics illustrator Tony De Zuniga, co-creator of such characters as Black Orchid and Jonah Hex for DC comics, will have an art show at the 4th Floor of SM Megamall on January 9, 2009.

A top Filipino komiks illustrator during the 1950s. He finished Bachelor of Science in Commercial Arts at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. From there, he enrolled in the School for Advanced Graphic Design in New York City.

Tony worked for DC Comics and Marvel Comics for 18 years where he drew X-Men, Spider-Man and other action hero figures. He also created and designed the look of Jonah Hex and Black Orchid for DC Comics. After 10 years as a conceptual designer, he retired from SEGA of America and SEGA of Japan. He also did freelance work for Scholastic Publications, TSR’s Dungeons & Dragons and McGraw Hill Publications.

Tony is a winner of the Sega Presidents Award for Excellence for 1997. Recently, he returned to pencil an issue of the new Jonah Hex book and is rumored to be doing more work on the title.

Merry Christmas, guys. I didn’t go to my family Christmas gathering in Noche Beuna, ‘coz I have to work in my shitty job.

In 2009, I’m planning to work in a call center company. Yes, indeed. I admit I don’t want to get into this career, but the pay is good, the time is shitty, but… the pay is good. Hehehe. I’m gonna take a break from Korean companies, ‘coz they talk shit out of their mouths. I’m just gonna work for 6 months and I’ll check out their next offer.

Anyway, I have to go. I don’t have much cash these days. I promise that next year, I will have goals: buy an electric guitar, diet & exercise, stop-smoking, etc.

Hello all,

This week, I got a job; I did some bargaining about my contract with my crappy boss. The job is good, but the pay is shitty. Anyway, next year, I ‘ll find another job. I’ve applied to some companies already around the Ortigas Center. They’ll call me around January.

Yesterday, Myrna and I went to the CO event, where Jay Anacleto, currently working on Marvels: Eye of the Camera book, went there for autograph signing. There were other artists who came, such as: Tony Dezuniga (creator of Jonah Hex), Gerry Alanguilan (Elmer), Edgar Tadeo (X-Men Legacy) and Leinil Francis “fucking” Yu (Secret Invasion). We bought some comics and got it signed. We also bought the newest Wave 5 of the Marvel Mighty Muggs: Vision, Iron Man (Mark 1), Skrull and Ultimate Captain America. I already updated the Mighty Muggs page. Anyway, the event was cool. a lot of people went there and got signed comics.

As for next week, I’ll sign my contract and I’ll try to survive for this month of November. This is the time for Marvel’s Dark Reign.
